Dem Fine Woman is a place for me to explore how my faith, my life goals, my politics, and my personal interests and passions all connect to each other. I hope the content here will be encouraging and thought provoking–and even a bit fun.
Outside the blogosphere, I’m a stay-at-home mom who home schools two children. My oldest is adopted from China. I’m also a multi-published novelist and a freelance fiction editor. I’m deliriously happily married. I attend a Vineyard church where I’m a member of the worship team.
Proud to be a registered Democrat (possibly the only one in my family, other than my DH). I’m also interested in evangelical feminism, Biblical equality, and other issues regarding women and social justice. More of a thinker and writer than an activist, but I enjoy helping people and serving.

Thy Kingdom Come: How the Religious Right Distorts the Faith and Threatens America: An Evangelical’s LamentGot to hear this guy speak recently and had to buy his book. He really speaks my language–not just in ideas and opinions, but also in beautiful use of words. It’s all about the history of evangelicalism and the rise of the religious right. He documents how the current tone of evangelical Christianity in America and the dogma of the religious right is a radical departure from the progressive traditions of evangelicalism. He’s an evangelical himself, and speaks of this culture with a lot of compassion and concern. As I get further into the book, I’ll share some more thoughts about it.
